So you’ve found a role that intrigues you and you want to submit your resume to be considered, don’t forget a snappy cover letter! A cover letter can help you stand out from other applicants, as well as be an introduction to your experience and why you’re the best candidate.
Before you jump to the free cover letter template, we’d love to offer a few recommendations to consider as you craft your letter.
- Be specific. Expand on the best bullet points of your resume. Cover letters don’t always get read but when they do they should make others want to speak to you and learn more. These details are also notes to frame your stories and preparation for your interviews.
- A full cover letter should contain the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of your top one or two examples that make you a match for this role or company.
- Be simple, direct and clear.
